Ventory
Building a platform for field inventory management
Ventory is a Belgian startup that provides smart solutions for field inventory management. With many robust warehouse management systems on the market, their goal was to create an intuitive lightweight solution that could be deployed anywhere within a day. This would help the likes of mobile hospitals and field engineers keep track of their stock on the go.

MISSION: Smart inventory management
We assisted Ventory in building their product
implementing features like stock management, cycle counting, barcode scanning, automation, exception management, and online and offline modes. The primary targets were small warehouses that did not use any warehouse management software due to existing solutions being too complex or expensive.
CHALLENGE: Reducing the scope
While the company had many features in mind
for their product, a lot of them had to be deprioritized. Warehouse management processes can quickly get quite complex when the minimum requirements include managing perishable goods with batch and serial numbers. Additionally, as the warehouses were assumed to be set up in areas with poor signal, the product needed to be fully functional without an internet connection.
SOLUTION: Cross-platform implementation
We put together a hybrid team of four people.
In order to target both iOS and Android, we used Flutter, which also allowed us to develop the UI quickly. For the backend, we used Firebase for its fast prototyping capabilities and low costs. Within a few months, we successfully built the first version of the product.
