Factset
Creating an
all-in-one developer community hub
FactSet helps the financial community to see more, think bigger, and work better. Its digital platform and enterprise solutions deliver financial data, analytics, and open technology globally.
With the goal of building a hub for the developer community, FactSet approached Applifting to collaborate on this initiative. We started our cooperation in the third quarter of 2023 and the hub launched in June 2024.

One compelling place to support the community
Among FactSet's clients, talented developers exist who seek a more centralized and dedicated platform for collaboration and solution-sharing. Therefore, FactSet strove to provide this for their clients and approached us to collaborate on creating a developer hub as a place for communication, certification, learning, and event promotion. The scope evolved into a full-fledged community portal with user profiles, discussions, and gamification elements supporting the interaction.
Designing a seamlessly integrated environment
Since FactSet is a large corporate company, the main concern was designing the entire platform to ensure easy integration into existing systems and straightforward maintenance. We were also tasked with selecting the vendors for each part of the hub, including digital certification, the learning management system, and community management. The most challenging aspect was figuring out how to seamlessly integrate them all into one platform.
A unified platform built for engagement
During a three-month process, our team designed
a visual direction that naturally extends the FactSet brand and created an MVP with all the platforms seamlessly integrated. We used a combination of LMS, credentialing, and customizable community platforms to build a client-facing UI that feels and looks like FactSet, based on NextJS and JavaScript.
To enhance community engagement, we incorporated gamification elements that reward users for their activity with achievement badges and levels. Comprehensive documentation also played an important role. We prepared detailed guides for both setup and management of the platform and all third-party integrations, ensuring the project could be easily handed over and maintained independently.
Marketing strategy for project launch
In cooperation with the international agency PMN, our marketing department created a strategy for the launch of the project. The goal was to promote the new FactSet Developer Hub and achieve a 20% engagement rate among FactSet's client technologists by the end of the first year.
